Free Whois
Checker
Look up domain registration info instantly. Find the owner, registrar, expiry date and nameservers for any domain.
What is a Whois Lookup?
Whois is a query protocol that retrieves publicly available registration data stored in domain registries around the world. When anyone registers a domain name, the registrar stores key details — name, organization, email, expiry date, nameservers — in a publicly accessible registry database.
A Whois lookup queries that database and returns the stored information. Our tool uses the modern RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) — the official IANA replacement for the older WHOIS protocol — which returns structured, more accurate results.
Note: many domain owners enable Whois privacy protection, which hides personal details and replaces them with the registrar's proxy information.

Whois Checker — FAQs
What is a Whois lookup?
A Whois lookup retrieves publicly available registration data for a domain name from the domain's registry database. It tells you who registered the domain, when, when it expires, and who the registrar is.
Is Whois information always publicly available?
Most domain registration details are publicly accessible. However, many registrars offer WHOIS privacy protection which replaces the registrant's personal details with proxy information.
How do I find who owns a domain?
Enter the domain name in the Whois Checker above and click Lookup. The tool returns the registrant name (or proxy if privacy is enabled), registration dates, and registrar details.
Can I check when a domain expires?
Yes. The Whois Checker shows the exact expiry date for any domain — useful for monitoring competitor domains or tracking your own portfolio.
What is RDAP?
RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is the modern, IANA-recommended replacement for the old WHOIS protocol. It returns structured JSON data and is more accurate and consistent than traditional WHOIS.
How often is Whois data updated?
Whois data is updated in near real-time by the domain registry. Changes in ownership, nameservers, or renewal typically reflect within minutes to a few hours.
