Understanding GST Calculations
GST (Goods and Services Tax) in India is charged at standard rates of 5%, 12%, 18%, or 28% depending on the category of goods or services. For transactions within the same state, GST splits equally into CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST).
For inter-state transactions, the full rate applies as a single IGST (Integrated GST) instead of the CGST+SGST split.

GST Calculator — FAQs
What's the difference between adding and removing GST?
'Add GST' takes a base price and calculates the GST-inclusive total. 'Remove GST' does the reverse — given a final price that already includes GST, it extracts the base amount and tax component.
When do I use CGST+SGST vs IGST?
CGST+SGST applies when the buyer and seller are in the same state. IGST applies for inter-state transactions, charged at the same total rate but collected by the central government and apportioned to the destination state.
Which GST rate applies to my product?
Rates vary by HSN/SAC code. Common goods are taxed at 5%, 12%, 18%, or 28% — check the official GST rate schedule or consult your accountant for your specific category.
Is this calculator accurate for filing returns?
