How to Improve RFQs for a CNC Machine Shop

Improving RFQs vs. Getting More of Them
These are two different problems that need two different fixes. A volume problem is about visibility and acquisition — not enough of the right buyers finding you. But too many gatekeeping questions on the form itself can scare off legitimate buyers before they ever submit. A reasonable middle ground: ask only the handful of qualifying questions that actually change whether you can quote (material, approximate quantity, rough part size) directly on the form, and leave anything more detailed for a follow-up conversation once you know the RFQ is worth pursuing.
5. Follow-Up Process Once an RFQ Arrives
Define what happens after a quote is sent, not just after it's received.
